Appel de conférences – « The Practice of Editing Music. History, Challenges and New Directions (1500-1900) » – 29 mai 2026

Appel de conférences pour le colloque international « The Practice of Editing Music. History, Challenges and New Directions (1500-1900). A Two-Day Symposium in Honour of Professor Graham Sadler », Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, Birmingham, 30-31 octobre 2026.

« The production of critical and performing editions of music is central not only to the discovery of neglected composers and their repertoire but also to the greater understanding of well-known composers, their works, and their performing practices. However, the editor can often face numerous and varied challenges. Many of these are overlooked in modern scholarship and, if left unaddressed, will have far-reaching consequences for this discipline. This two-day symposium (from which a publication in the form of an edited volume is planned) aims to explore the diverse ways in which editors are solving complex problems across a range of repertoires and address the challenges that digital editing technologies both solve and create, whilst situating the whole discipline of editing in its historical context.».

Date limite de soumission : 29 mai 2026.
