Appel à participation – « Study. A Pedagogical Framework for the Teaching, Learning, and Assessment of Musicology in Higher Education » – janvier-juillet 2024

Appel à participation pour l’étude « A Pedagogical Framework for the Teaching, Learning, and Assessment of Musicology in Higher Education. Towards A Transformative Model », conduite par Sinéad Jones (chercheuse principale), Trinity College Dublin.

« I would like to invite you to participate in a new study on the teaching, learning, and assessment of musicology (including music analysis and theory) in Higher Education. The study aims to construct, in the absence of one, a pedagogical framework for the teaching, learning, and assessment of musicology (broadly defined) in higher education.

This comprehensive international study looks at musicologists and music analysts (and theorists) pedagogical practices and professional life experiences from 1980 to present through a comprehensive online survey, an online individual interview, and optional online themed focus groups related to teaching musicology (broadly defined). It aims to be the largest international survey of musicologists and music analysts to date and hopes to contribute to key concerns and debates in pedagogical practices for musicologists and analysts. The study aims to be as inclusive and representative as possible of past and current pedagogical practices and you are encouraged to participate where you can. It will also involve contributions from advanced students and employees of cultural institutions who are invited to participate. Although academics will be asked to participate in a survey, interview, and optional focus groups, they are free to participate in the survey only, if they wish to make a contribution. The study will be conducted between January and July 2024 and published in August 2024.

Please register your interest in the study by completing the Expressions of Interest form here: https://forms.gle/Wy9dssVFQa3jkz1PA.

I will send you on the Participant Information Leaflet and Consent Form thereafter.

I would appreciate it if you could distribute this ‘Call for Participation’ email to the members of your community of practice (i.e. society for musicology) and to your music colleagues within your higher education institution or neighbouring institutions. »
