« Next year marks the fiftieth anniversary of the release of Joni Mitchell’s groundbreaking album Blue. Blue has been cited by many musicians and critics as her greatest (and saddest) album, the culmination of her early recordings, a work unprecedented in its emotional and psychological depth, craftsmanship, and sheer beauty.
Our distinguished invited speakers include renowned authors, scholars, and music critics: Malka Marom, Prof. Nicole Biamonte, Prof. Daniel Levitin, Prof. Lloyd Whitesell, Ann Powers.
Proposals of work not already published, for 20-minute deliveries, should be no longer than 500 words plus a maximum of three pages of diagrams or illustrative examples. Please send as a PDF or Word document with no proposer-identifying features in order to preserve anonymity. Please include a short bio not exceeding 150 words in the body of the Email. Send proposals and all correspondence to joniblueconference -at- gmail.com with the subject heading “UConn Joni Mitchell conference.”
For accepted proposals, video presentations will be submitted prior to the conference by March 22 to joniblueconference -at- gmail.com. Conference attendees will have the opportunity to study presentations beforehand, and presenters will have a scheduled time at the conference for live Q&A. »
