Appel de communications pour la 8e conférence Chinese Music and Musical Instruments, « Expanding Horizons: Embracing the Wide Variety of Asian Music and Dance », Lisbonne et Mafra, 7-10 mai 2025.

« As in previous years, the conference will feature a compelling blend of scholarly presentations and live performances, acting as a confluence of academic discourse and artistic expression. Alongside academic discussions, as in previous editions, attendees and the general public will have the opportunity to experience a curated series of concerts and recitals, showcasing the varied musical heritage of Asia and Portugal (the host country).

The themes of the conference are as follows:

– Traditional and popular performing arts of Asia ;
– Heritages of Western music in Asia ;
– Chinese musical history, pre- and post-1949 ;
– Chinese musical influences on Asia and Europe ;
– Asian musical instruments in Western museums ;
– Music, dance, and composition in Macau ;
– Music and dance in Asian diasporas worldwide.
