Appel de conférences pour le colloque « Puccini 24. The Future of the Past: Puccini in the 20th and 21st Century », Venise, 2-4 octobre 2024.
« Sponsored by the German Center for Venetian Studies, in collaboration with Ca’ Foscari University and the Cini Foundation, the second part of the ‘Puccini 24’ conference focuses on the future of the past: from an investigation of the musical (and other) traces that Puccini’s works have continued to leave in 20th- and 21st-century music and dramaturgy, to the study of links acknowledged by contemporary composers and musicians; from histories of influences and legitimations to traces of borrowings and legacies. Possible (but not exclusive) proposal topics include:
- Puccinian echoes and influences in contemporaneous and recent works
- Puccinism’ as a ‘cultural asset’
- epigone aesthetics and historiography
- cultural value, prestige, and spectatorship
- transpositions of Puccinian theater into different media. »
