« Is wind music a male domain? The answer seems less obvious today, given the development of wind music. The gender ratio among musicians, in orchestras, among conductors and composers has changed since the middle of the 20th century. The role of women in wind music is increasingly becoming the focus of artistic debate, but it is not yet accompanied by extensive aesthetic and academic reflection. At the same time, questions arise as to the extent to which existing gender relations influence wind music or whether today’s international context promotes the processes of change. »
