Appel de conférences pour le colloque « Musical Interpretation and Performance from the XIXth to the XXIst Century », Bergame (Italie), 10-12 novembre 2023.
« This conference aims to study musical performance from the nineteenth century to the present day. Studies on the performance of different artists, the social development of the performer’s role, reception through music criticism, the development of musical taste, improvisation, experimentation and happenings are particularly welcome.
The study of performance prior to sound recording is conveyed to us by oral or written accounts. With the advent of recordings, however, the history of performance mirrors the cultural changes of a society and its values. It is therefore possible to propose studies on the development of musical recording, its impact on composition and live music, and on different performances of the same work, including recordings of operatic performances.
In the case of opera, as well as of any work for musical theatre, screen or multimedia medium, the performance often includes multiple elements (dance, acting, singing, performance of instrumental music, etc.) and is the result of the interpretative visions of multiple parties: the authors (composer, librettist or scriptwriter), the producers, those involved in staging or production, the various performers, etc. »
Date limite de soumission : 14 avril 2023.
