« Our meeting this year will celebrate the vernacular music traditions of the region. On the afternoon of Friday, March 17, meeting attendees will have an opportunity to participate in the local Pickin’ Porch old-time jam. If you have a string instrument, bring it! Ukuleles (and instruction on playing the ukulele) will be provided to anyone who is interested. That evening we are invited to attend the Spring Family Jam hosted by the Georgia Pick & Bow Traditional Music School, 5-7 pm at the nearby Lumpkin County Community Center (365 Riley Rd, Dahlonega, GA 30533). At this event, students in the program (grades 3-12) and their families come together for a potluck and open jam on songs and tunes from the Pick & Bow curriculum. »
