« During its second symposium, ICTM Belgium invites presentations on what Bruno Nettl called ‘contemplating musical repertoires’ (2015), referring to the process of making sense of a body of music or dance. It is a challenge shared by researchers, performers and teachers alike. They seek methods to transcribe, describe, analyse and characterise music and dance practices effectively. That is, in a way that is both appropriate for the practice under investigation and understandable for readers, audiences and pupils. During the symposium, we aim to exchange ideas, experiences and questions on musical or dance analysis in traditional, popular, or classical repertoires from all over the world. »
